Title

Fluorescence

Description

Fluorescence is a physical phenomenon by which a substance absorbs light energy and re-emits this energy as light at a wavelength longer than the energy of the absorbed light.

Fluorescence is widely used in various fields, including in biology to mark and visualize cellular structures, in medicine for diagnostics, and in chemistry to detect the presence of certain substances.

Applications

On the ARPEGE platform we use a calcium-sensitive biosensor (Fluo-4, Cal-520) to measure the release of intracellular calcium in real time inside cells.
